Popcord Words

Popcorn Words

Popcorn Words helps children to practice sight words. Children try to click on the correct word after it is said by a monkey. Getting correct answers is rewarded with a chance to play a "just for fun" popcorn catching game.

Reading Stragegies

This Reading Strategies site has tremendous potential for helping students to visualize, synthesize, summarize etc. Each strategy is clearly explained with an example, and a video further helps to clarify what is meant by the strategy.

Syllable Split - A bear splits words into syllables, and then asks the student to identify which of three words he has just said.

Tumble Book Library. Click the green 'View online' and listen to stories read aloud. Click on the alphabet to see more.

Roy the Zebra has several games to help practice alphabetical order, number words, months, days etc. This game works well on an IWB

Magnetic Rhymes

Magnetic Nursery Rhymes - Students drag and reorder the words to make well known nursery rhymes.

Reading Games

More games to practice sight words. Reading Games does not allow you to choose which words to practice, but does have a variety of word matching games. To get back to the main menu at this site, you need to refresh the page.

Sight Words with Sampson

Lots of different ways to practice sight words at Sight Words with Sampson. You can choose which list you want to practice, and then choose from different games to review those words.

Word Magnets

On this site you can choose the words and sentences that are made into Word Magnets. The teacher can choose the words, or students can choose them for each other and then challenge each other to remake the sentences, sort the words, etc. This game works well with an Interactive White Board.

Rebus Stories

There are four rebus stories on this site. As the story is read aloud, the words are highlighted. Students choose pictures to go along with the story.
